Birch Box March 2014 review

Birchbox March 2014 review… I received box #39
bb39_385x385_9
This month’s theme was spring forward and I loved it!
009
(missing from the group image the Ghirardelli Intense Dark Cherry Tango because I immediately ate it)
002
Greenleaf Starlight Candle: I was SO excited to get a candle in this box!  I’ve never received a candle in a birch box!   The smell of it is very strong and nice.  It’s citrus but also  like a clean musk?  Does that description even make sense… it smells like it could be soap but a really good smelling soap.
005
COOLA Tinted Matte SPF 30 for Face: I actually really loved this.  It wasn’t as heavy as other BB creams I’ve sampled and I found it very moisturizing.
004
Air Repair Rescue Balm All-Purpose Skin Salve and Lip Balm: What a great idea!!!  I think I want to keep this in my car!  (I could have used this two MONTHS ago… but now will do)  However… I imagine a container of Vaseline would do the same thing?  This is more fancy.
003
Gilchrist & Soames London Collection Body Lotion: This was okay.  I need lotion like I need nail polish (I don’t).  So I will try to use this up right away.
006
Nelson j Beverly Hills Argan Oil 7 Non-Foaming Shampoo: This smelled like toothpaste… not really a fan of that.  I will try it out but if my hair smells like minty toothpaste I will not be happy about it.  I am not someone who really cares about sulfate or parabon free stuff… I don’t know should I be?  I don’t color my hair?  OH and what’s non foaming mean??  Just because of that I am interested in testing it out… but will the non foaming part be bad?

Birchbox February 2014

Birchbox February 2014 review…
bb34_385x385_7
013
014
This month’s theme was: Step. Pose. Repeat. It’s awards season.
009
Serge Normant Meta Revive Dry Conditioner: I guess I’ve only heard of dry shampoo.  I probably have more use for dry conditioner than I do dry shampoo.  I am wondering if I use this after the gym if it’d help get the snarls out for the remainder of the day?  It’s going in my gym bag.  This item was my favorite out of the box.
008
Benefit It’s Potent!  Eye Cream: Also a favorite from this box.  Love an eye cream.  I like this sample size too.  This little box was so cute!  I tried a little.  I never know if they actually work ya know, but it can’t hurt right?  (unless it makes you break out in a rash or something awful, it can’t hurt…)
011
Juicy Couture Couture La La Malibu: can’t go wrong with a perfume sample.  I like the smell it’s a little citrus-y which I like.
010
W3ll people universalist multi use color stick: I can’t think of anything I’d want to make more red right now.  I am SO pale from it being winter and everything… my nose is red from blowing it from being sick.  I just was not into this sample.  Maybe in a few months.
012
Benefit Big Easy: it’s kind of cool that this isn’t available in stores yet… but I don’t consider these things a real sample.  It’s good for one use and who really likes to open these things and use them?  They are in magazines.  The actual full size item looks promising though.

October 2013 Birchbox Review

birchboxoctober2013

This month’s Birchbox box was a really good one.  It’s a monthly subscription box that costs $10.

infomationcardbirchbox

I have to admit I peaked this month before I received it in the mail… and I’m glad I did because I was really excited!

lipgloss

Pop Beauty Aqua Lacquer: full size $14… I think I got a full size.  It’s a sheer gloss that plumps and hydrates with jojoba oil.  The color I got was Floating Rose.  It’s darker in person than it looks on the site.  It has a unique spatula-like applicator brush – and smells minty.  When I put it on it’s tingly and not that sticky.  It’s totally fun and I’m really glad I got it in my box!

benefitcosmetics

Benefit Cosmetics – Fake Up: full size $24.  First of all I LOVE this idea… it’s a hydrating under eye concealer.  I use under eye concealer, and a moisturizer and this is BOTH.  Plus I like this sample size – it’s small, but it’s perfect to pop in your travel make up bag.  $24 is a lot but I might just love it enough to buy it (with my birchbox points that is).

chapstick

Chapstick Hydration Lock: Who doesn’t love a good chap stick?  And I really like the vanilla creame flavor!  This was a great practical addition to the box!  And just in time too, winter is coming!

facewash

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser:  full size $24.50 (but my info card says $21.50!)… I love this!!  I love washing my face different ways… and this was different!  The cloth is just the perfect amount of rough to exfoliate without feeling like sandpaper… I was really amazed how well it washed away any make up or dirt I had on my face.  Afterward my face felt smooth, clean, and surprisingly hydrated – not dry.

The box also had a $1 off a hydration lock chapstick (scoreee)

Birch Box September Review

birchboxseptember

This month’s Birchbox box was a pretty good one I think.  It’s a monthly subscription box that costs $10.

008

012

009

Caudalie Make-up Remover Cleansing Water: This was a pretty good size sample and I was most excited about this in the box.  I tried it and it worked well.  It’s expensive though, $28 for a full size.  I think I’m sticking to my make up remover wipes.  But for now until this is gone I’ll be using this.

014

Amika Blow Up Spray: This is awesome.  I am so going to use this today when I blow dry my hair.  The sample size is good too!  I love the label with all the colors.  It adds lift and shine, totally what I want.

015

Ruffian Nail Lacquer: I love nail polish!  And I don’t have a color like this.  It’s called Hedge Fund.  I would have also loved the purple color, Delirium.  Great to add to my collection.

018

Coastal Scents Neutral Mirage Pallet Set: It says the perfect smoky eye… but I got bright pinks?  I hardly use eye shadows – but when I do, it’ll be fun to add these in.

013

Egyptian Magic Skin Cream: It says you can basically put this anywhere and it does it all.  I don’t like getting packets of lotion, I feel the need to use it all at once and then it’s gone.  I will for sure use this though and love it.

Birchbox August 2013 Review

This month’s Birchbox box was all about finishing school… I never really get the connection to the themes with the items in the box…

augustbirchbox

(Again my camera is broken, so I am using my camera phone from 2009)

number 4 super comb prep and protect

Number 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect – This spray stengthens, repairs, protects, detangles… it’s great… except I don’t really like the smell.  Yup, I just sprayed it again… and yeah the smell isn’t something I wanna smell like.  It smells chemically and perfumey.  I WISH I liked the smell because it does so many great things.

dr jart bb cream

Dr.Jart+ Premium BB Cream SPF 45+ – This sample is tiny .17 fl oz but at least it’s not in a packet.  I this the tiny little tube is cute!  I love bb cream… I just didn’t like the shade of this one.  I wanted it to be more brown or goldish.  It has great reviews on birchbox though.

party proof lipstick

ModelCo Party Proof Matte Lip Stick – A full size lip stick!  Sure!  And it’s not in a ridic color, great (I got “Kitty”)!  I don’t ever wear lip stick… but this is just fun to own!

freshfeet wipes

Jasmine Seven Fresh Feet Wipes – They sell these by the canister.  If I like them… then I might keep a canister in my gym locker.  That sounds perfect!!!  My sister, Smellen, has smelly feet from her smelly flats (Hi!) – she’d probably like these too!  Keep them under her desk at work, and when no ones looking quick wipe her smelly feet.

super slip sudsy shampoo

Miss Jessie’s Original Super Slip Sudsy Shampoo – This will be fun to try!

Birchbox July 2013 Review

birchboxjuly2013

My birchbox July 2013 Review…

beautyprotectorshampooconditioner

Beauty Protector Shampoo and Conditioner:  I consider this one item, not two.  The samples are small and will be used together.  It smells good, like vanilla and honey.

bodylotionhandlotion

Caldrea Body Lotion: I am excited to try these… once.  The samples are a one use sample, not my favorite kind of sample.

blush

TheBalm InStain Long Wearing Powder Staining Blush: This is okay… I like the color.  I’ll use it… but I don’t think I’d ever by $22 blush.  The packaging is cool.

tantowel

TanTowel: June’s box had a tan towel… and I even emailed birchbox about how I don’t like them.  Recieving ONE is sketchy… will it REALLY cover all I need it to?  Anyways, I don’t even want to chance it… it could be bad, and it could ruin my clothes, or sheets… not worth it to me.  I will not use this… OR my other one I got.

Overall… total dissapointment in this box… well not total but mostly.  I liked the shampoo and conditioner and the blush I guess… but I don’t think this is worth $10.  I was sad when I opened this at my parent’s… my mom gave me some samples she had from the mall to cheer me up!!  Soooo here they are…

005

Some lotions and a victoria secret gorgeous perfume which I really liked the smell of.  Thanks mama!

Birchbox June 2013 Reivew

Birchbox is a monthly subscription box for $10/month.  You’ll receive 4-6 beauty/lifestyle products to try out.

birchbox box
The box itself changed.  Birchbox’s logo changed.  I am nervous about this… what other changes have been made?  I JUST renewed for a year – I hope the boxes don’t start to disappoint me.

birchboxcard
Information Card.

birchboxpostcards
Postcards… this photo is missing the one for NYC… since my sister’s sending that one right away to our friend Surbhi in India.  That’s the only one that made sense to send though… like why would I send a postcard that says Barcelona on it?  So this box was supposed to be about Summer adventures… I really didn’t get that vibe.

birchboxnailpolish
colorclub
Color Club Wanderlust Collection: I received “Mod in Manhattan”  Cute name… not a cute color.  Yes, I got the “NY” color – and I am from NY.  But I hated it.  I would have rather gotten any of the other 3.    The coral was for Spain, green for London, and lavender for France.  I painted two nails – and immediately took it off.  So disappointing.

birchboxscrub
Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleaner: This face scrub is all natural, which I think is pretty cool.  It smells AMAZING.  Like sweet lemons.  The sample is pretty small, but I hope I can get a few uses out of it.  It costs $32.95 for 4 oz which is pretty steep – but if I fall in love with it, I MIGHT purchase it.

birchboxlip
Laqa & Co Lil’ Lip Duo: This reminded me of Aria on Pretty Little Liars.  Unfortunately I could never pull off an Aria hot pink lip and I will never use this product ever.

birchboxtanner
Comodynes Self-Tanning Intensive: My sister got this in a box before.  We’re Irish/Swedish… self tanning towelettes are not our thing.  She received two in her box (I only got one)… which she used and it did not work out well for her.  SO I am totally afraid to try this out… and I only have one – so what if it really doesn’t get my whole body… and I’m left all uneven?

birchboxnailfiles
Tweezerman Filemate: THIS was my favorite item in the box!  I am SO happy I got zebra and not polka dots (I am no fan of polka dots).  The little nail files are SO cute.  I gave one to my sister immediately to put in her bag… it game with 12!  I’ll keep one in my car, in my desk drawer, etc.  It’ll be just so handy and easy to store.  I always need a nail file, and I keep them in a few places, but this is great!  I really like Tweezerman products.

February Birchbox Review…

My February Birtchbox arrived!

carm

Ghirardelli Milk & Chocolate Square:  love chocolate.  I prefer dark chocolate.  I recieved so much chocolate for Valentine’s day.  This tiny square didn’t do it for me.  It’s currently in the freezer… I’ll consume it some day soon.

3h_chelsea

Twistband Headband Collection: I got the army green.  The smaller hair ties from this brand don’t hold my hair up, but this is the headband… and I LOVE it.  Seriously every girl should have some of these.

juicycouture_lala_3_4_900x900

Juicy Couture Couture La La: I honestly didn’t really smell this.  I assume it smells similar to all the other juicy perfumes?  Which I seem to get almost monthly.  I will change my review if I use it and I’m significantly impressed or signifcantly dislike it.

ojon_volumeadvancethickeningspray_900x900

Ojon Volume Advance Thickening Spray: I was pretty excited when I got this FULL size product in my birchbox.  I have super straight hair.  I wash and blow dry it – and that’s my hair routine.  This is such a fun product – I can spray it in my wet hair and make believe it’s giving me more volume… maybe it is, maybe it’s not… it’s like taking vitamins… you just don’t REALLY know.  I really DO think that it’s making my hair thicker.  I just don’t love the smell.

color-club-nail-polish-mamba-228x228

Color Club Fiesta Collection (Mamba): Eh another nail polish.  I put this on my toes immediately because it’s February the month of love.  This red is too RED for me.  But I am glad I didnt get the very ugly wild Cactus or Artsy Craftsy green… nails just shouldnt be green unless you’re very into St. Patricks day.
