Birchbox March 2014 review… I received box #39
This month’s theme was spring forward and I loved it!
(missing from the group image the Ghirardelli Intense Dark Cherry Tango because I immediately ate it)
Greenleaf Starlight Candle: I was SO excited to get a candle in this box! I’ve never received a candle in a birch box! The smell of it is very strong and nice. It’s citrus but also like a clean musk? Does that description even make sense… it smells like it could be soap but a really good smelling soap.
COOLA Tinted Matte SPF 30 for Face: I actually really loved this. It wasn’t as heavy as other BB creams I’ve sampled and I found it very moisturizing.
Air Repair Rescue Balm All-Purpose Skin Salve and Lip Balm: What a great idea!!! I think I want to keep this in my car! (I could have used this two MONTHS ago… but now will do) However… I imagine a container of Vaseline would do the same thing? This is more fancy.
Gilchrist & Soames London Collection Body Lotion: This was okay. I need lotion like I need nail polish (I don’t). So I will try to use this up right away.
Nelson j Beverly Hills Argan Oil 7 Non-Foaming Shampoo: This smelled like toothpaste… not really a fan of that. I will try it out but if my hair smells like minty toothpaste I will not be happy about it. I am not someone who really cares about sulfate or parabon free stuff… I don’t know should I be? I don’t color my hair? OH and what’s non foaming mean?? Just because of that I am interested in testing it out… but will the non foaming part be bad?

Birchbox December 2013 Sparkle and Shine
Ya know what else came!! My Birchbox December 2013 Sparkle and Shine box!
Number 4 Non-Aerosol Hairspray: I already received this in a julep mystery box. I hardly use hair spray so this went into the gift pile.
Beekind Body Lotion: This is great for this time of year. I love nice lotion and my hands dry out really bad. My mom and I tried to figure out what it smells like and we decided it smelled like lemon drops. Like sugar and lemon. Quite a nice scent. The lotion is not thick so it’s probably meant for your body like it says in the name… but I’d like to use it on my hands and keep it in my bag.
Emily’s Chocolate Covered Fortune Cookie: I wanted to eat this immediately but I stopped myself. It’s going in the stocking stuffer pile (so if you’re reading this and and I am making you a stocking this year – sorry I ruined the surprise but get excited because this looks amazing).
Eslor Skincare System: I typically don’t love packet samples but this could be fun to try one night.
I don’t know what the heck this thing is and I don’t have a smart phone.
Secret Agent Beauty Secret Lip Affair Nourishing & Plumping Lip Gloss: Uhhhhh… I was pretty excited about getting this annnddd… it’s missing. I contacted birchbox and hopefully they’ll send me it??
Birchbox November 2013 Review
It’s NOVEMBER!! And my birchbox came.
I did not peak this month so everything I received was a total surprise.
This isn’t the entire box. I did get a chocolate covered pretzel… but when I went to go photograph the box contents the pretzel was NO WHERE to be found??? I KNOW I didn’t eat it. We’ve got a chocolate covered pretzel thief on the lose… it’s the only explanation… or I lost it?
Aloxxi ColourCare Volumizing and Strengthening Shampoo and Conditioner: I know this it technically two items – but it’s really like one. I do like getting travel size bottles of shampoo and conditioner for traveling… but I hardly travel… but ya know if I ever did. I like these! Volume, strength, and color protection are things I like. — when they say color protection do they mean like color dye? because I haven’t colored my hair in like 6 years – this my totally natural hair color. But if it protects my natural color from fading or dullness I like that.
Chella Highlighter Pencil: THIS I am very interested in. “This pencil conceals, brightens, contours, shapes, lines, and defines… working 10 different ways to help you highlight your natural beauty.” Sounds good to me!
Color Club Harlem Lights Collection: The color I got is called Baldwin Blues… LOVE IT! I really liked the gold, Apollo Star, but I am just as happy with the Baldwin Blues. Those were my two fav from the collection so I’m glad I got one! Can’t go wrong with a nail polish!
Fatty Sundays Chocolate Covered Pretzel Flavors – 5 Pack: The sample i received and now can’t find was TINY. Like a bite size of one of these. I can’t really tell what size they actually are. I mean, chocolate covered pretzels – I’ll always like them… $35 for a 5 pack? I’m not sold. The flavors sound amazing though, two sprinkles (eh), smooth mint (mmm), toffee crunch (yes yes please!), and toasted coconut (fannncyyy!!). I’d say these would be fun stocking suffers but for $.
October 2013 Birchbox Review
This month’s Birchbox box was a really good one. It’s a monthly subscription box that costs $10.
I have to admit I peaked this month before I received it in the mail… and I’m glad I did because I was really excited!
Pop Beauty Aqua Lacquer: full size $14… I think I got a full size. It’s a sheer gloss that plumps and hydrates with jojoba oil. The color I got was Floating Rose. It’s darker in person than it looks on the site. It has a unique spatula-like applicator brush – and smells minty. When I put it on it’s tingly and not that sticky. It’s totally fun and I’m really glad I got it in my box!
Benefit Cosmetics – Fake Up: full size $24. First of all I LOVE this idea… it’s a hydrating under eye concealer. I use under eye concealer, and a moisturizer and this is BOTH. Plus I like this sample size – it’s small, but it’s perfect to pop in your travel make up bag. $24 is a lot but I might just love it enough to buy it (with my birchbox points that is).
Chapstick Hydration Lock: Who doesn’t love a good chap stick? And I really like the vanilla creame flavor! This was a great practical addition to the box! And just in time too, winter is coming!
Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser: full size $24.50 (but my info card says $21.50!)… I love this!! I love washing my face different ways… and this was different! The cloth is just the perfect amount of rough to exfoliate without feeling like sandpaper… I was really amazed how well it washed away any make up or dirt I had on my face. Afterward my face felt smooth, clean, and surprisingly hydrated – not dry.
The box also had a $1 off a hydration lock chapstick (scoreee)
Birch Box September Review
This month’s Birchbox box was a pretty good one I think. It’s a monthly subscription box that costs $10.
Caudalie Make-up Remover Cleansing Water: This was a pretty good size sample and I was most excited about this in the box. I tried it and it worked well. It’s expensive though, $28 for a full size. I think I’m sticking to my make up remover wipes. But for now until this is gone I’ll be using this.
Amika Blow Up Spray: This is awesome. I am so going to use this today when I blow dry my hair. The sample size is good too! I love the label with all the colors. It adds lift and shine, totally what I want.
Ruffian Nail Lacquer: I love nail polish! And I don’t have a color like this. It’s called Hedge Fund. I would have also loved the purple color, Delirium. Great to add to my collection.
Coastal Scents Neutral Mirage Pallet Set: It says the perfect smoky eye… but I got bright pinks? I hardly use eye shadows – but when I do, it’ll be fun to add these in.
Egyptian Magic Skin Cream: It says you can basically put this anywhere and it does it all. I don’t like getting packets of lotion, I feel the need to use it all at once and then it’s gone. I will for sure use this though and love it.
Thanks Birchbox!
I got this in the mail the other day. Thanks Birchbox!
Birchbox August 2013 Review
This month’s Birchbox box was all about finishing school… I never really get the connection to the themes with the items in the box…
(Again my camera is broken, so I am using my camera phone from 2009)
Number 4 Super Comb Prep & Protect – This spray stengthens, repairs, protects, detangles… it’s great… except I don’t really like the smell. Yup, I just sprayed it again… and yeah the smell isn’t something I wanna smell like. It smells chemically and perfumey. I WISH I liked the smell because it does so many great things.
Dr.Jart+ Premium BB Cream SPF 45+ – This sample is tiny .17 fl oz but at least it’s not in a packet. I this the tiny little tube is cute! I love bb cream… I just didn’t like the shade of this one. I wanted it to be more brown or goldish. It has great reviews on birchbox though.
ModelCo Party Proof Matte Lip Stick – A full size lip stick! Sure! And it’s not in a ridic color, great (I got “Kitty”)! I don’t ever wear lip stick… but this is just fun to own!
Jasmine Seven Fresh Feet Wipes – They sell these by the canister. If I like them… then I might keep a canister in my gym locker. That sounds perfect!!! My sister, Smellen, has smelly feet from her smelly flats (Hi!) – she’d probably like these too! Keep them under her desk at work, and when no ones looking quick wipe her smelly feet.
Miss Jessie’s Original Super Slip Sudsy Shampoo – This will be fun to try!

Birch Box Review March 2013 – THIS has been my favorite box in a long time!
Vasanti BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator: I tried a similar sample product from birch box before, DDF Brightening Cleanser and I really liked using but it smelled like liquorice. THIS product doesn’t smell like that, AND I think the micro crystals are even smaller and even more exfoliating and amazing. I just feel like I am getting part of a facial step (does that make sense?). Anyway I really liked this and was totally happy getting it in my box this month.
Whish Shave Crave Shaving Cream: I don’t regularly use shaving cream. So this sample wasn’t my thing. HOWEVER it smelled like blueberry and that’s really fun. It also comes in sweet pomegranate, yummy almond, and lovely lavender.
La Fresh Eco Beauty Acetone-free Nail Polish Remover: I’ve never used these before. I am SO glad I’ve finally found them. The bottle of nail polish remover smells so strong and I have to work at getting the nail polish off. These didn’t smell really, and they removed the nail polish so easily. My one complaint is that it says one pad can do 10 nails – it only really did 5 of my toes. You can travel with them easily. You can keep one in your purse incase you chip your nail polish terribly and it’d be better if you just removed all of it instead of hide it all day. I liked it so much I bought three packages.
Madewell for Birchbox Nail Emery Board: Who doesn’t love a sturdy emery board? And this pattern is sweet!
Marcelle BB Cream Golden Glow: I LOVE this! I’ve heard about BB cream and it’s greatness. I just didn’t know what BB cream to buy! Now that I have a sample of this I’m hooked. It evens out my skin color, it’s hydrating, it’s light, it’s great.
PopSugar!
So I was reading birch box reviews on random blogs. I came across this blog…

http://www.ramblingsofasuburbanmom.com/monthly-subscription-box-list/#comment-34629
This link is to her subscription box list. I read through them all. I also read her reviews on them. I was overwhelmed with how many boxes there are out there other than birch box. I ALMOST joined a baby box… but I went another direction.
I am going with PopSugar. The blog author seemed to be fond of this box. Since she’s subscribed to so many boxes I’ll guess her favorite and go with that one. I really value this ladies opinions, she’s taken the time and money to really know her stuff. The box will have full size products worth over $100. I signed up for $95 for 3 months ($31.66 / month).
I will be sure to update my blog on the items I receive. I am pretty excited!
Harvey Prince – Skinny Chic
I recieved a sample of Harvey Prince – Skinny Chic perfume in my January Birch Box. I love it. It’s not like any other perfume I’ve tried. It’s energizing! It is described to smell fresh with a fruity blend of apple, mint, and grapefruit, lotus blossom – notes of bergamot, fennel, white cedarwood, amber, and iris mix and mingle. I literally feel alive after spraying it. I read the reviews and some people disliked it while other fell in love. I am a believer, this scent it great. I hope anyone who smells it on me agrees. I did find that only one spray is enough – more than one it’s over load.
