Melting Pot – A Fondue Restaurant

Our dinner at Melting Pot

Going to a fondue restaurant was part of my Totally Trying it August Edition. SO I went right away (with my sister, Smellen)!

FIrst we had a fun cocktail.  Mine, on the left, a Midnight Lemonade, Little Black Dress Blueberry Pomegranate Vodka, Finest Call Sweet and Sour Lite, Filthy Black Cherry Juice and a splash of ginger ale.  On the right, Smellen’s, Blackberry Sage Leomade, Lemonade, and blackberry sage (non-alcoholic).  So tastey!

Then came the cheese part of our four course meal…  we choose traditional swiss.  Gruyere and Emmenthaler Swiss cheeses, white wine, garlic, nutmeg, lemon, and Kirschwasser.  Soft breads and apple slices to dip.  We didn’t know how we felt about the swiss.  At first we were like, this is sort of strange tasting… then we were like no no we like it, maybe love it, no actually it’s still weird tasting.  So if we ever go again, we won’t get swiss.

Next we had a salad (I didn’t take a photo).  We both ordered the California, mixed baby salad greens, roma tomatoes, candied pecans and gorgonzola cheese with raspberry black walnut vinaigrette.  It was good.

Then came our entree.  I choose land and sea… I had filet mignon, herb crusted chicken, and pacific white shrimp.  Smellen had Pacific Rim, Teriyaki-marinated sirloin, honey orange duck breast, citrus-infused pork tenderloin, and chicken potstickers.  We had it cooked in Mojo style… caribean-seasoned bouillon with a distinctive fresh-garlic flavor and a citrus flair… no idea how that was different than the regular complimentary cooking style.  Everything tasted wonderful.  We were so stuffed at this point.  My favorite, the filet mignon and the vegtables… and the shrimp…

I heard from others the desert is the very best part and by the time you get to it you’re ridiculously full.  This is exactly what happened to us.  We choose dark chocolate and it came with strawberries, bananas, cheesecake, rice krispie treats, marshmellows, pound cake and brownies… oh my goodness… a-maz-ing.

We were totally so so so full by the end.  If I ever went back I don’t think I could handle the 4 course meal again… but it was amazing to try.  If I had to pick my favorite course it was for SURE the desert… soo good.
